Amazon facility in Ruskin expands
Lindsey says construction is already underway, all inside the walls that house millions of items you can buy with the click of a button. That means hundreds of jobs for construction workers, "[...] and also hundreds of new full-time
Amazon positions at the Ruskin facility," Lindsey said.
For Melanie Morrison, executive director of SouthShore Chamber of Commerce, "there had to be life in that area, and now there's definitely life."
Amazon is helping to build the Ruskin-Apollo Beach economy and beyond.
"Because they're there, there's more of a demand," Morrison said. "The economic impact not just in the South Shore area, but all of Hillsborough County is affected. It's wonderful."
She says the 1,000-plus workers at the facility have spent millions at area businesses, including Railroad and Industrial Federal Credit Union.
"It's put us on the map," said account executive Bert Bravo. "So for us, it's just been such a great thing and I'm truly excited for what the future holds for us."
So the next time you order a Hunger Games DVD or a Fire HD, your item could be part of the millions upon millions in new inventory slated for this massive Ruskin facility once construction is complete.
And what Amazon says that means for you?
"Super-fast shipping speeds for our Amazon customers," Lindsey said.
